2026 Town and County Tax Payment Information

Town and County tax payments are due (notice) by the end of January.
If paid in February, a 1% penalty is accrued.
If paid in March∗, a 2% penalty is accrued.

Make checks payable to Covert Tax Collector.
Payment by mail: Covert Tax Collector, PO Box 265, Interlaken, NY 14847.

Payment in person:
Office hours for collecting: Tuesday 9-5; Wednesday through Friday: 10-5.
Payments can also be deposited into the mail slot at the Town Hall.
Payment by credit or debit card (+2.75%fee applied.)

• Be sure that you have included the correct amount for payment within the timeframe you are paying. No partial payment will be accepted at the Town Office.
• Include your phone number. If there are any errors with your payment, we want to notify you as soon as possible so you can avoid late fees.
• Make sure that the check is written out correctly. The numeric and written total must match or it will be returned by the bank.

∗ Must be postmarked by April 1, 2026.
After April 1st, all unpaid taxes are collected by Seneca County, with a 5% penalty added in addition to the monthly accumulative interest.
